How to Book and the Holiday Categories

How to Book

Step 1

Determine what holiday category is appropriate for you.

Check the holiday Calenders  & listing for holidays that have this category

Choose the holiday you would like.

 Step 2

Contact Leisure Options by telephone or email to reserve a place on this holiday.  The Leisure Options staff will send you an application form , holiday itinerary and travel insurance information

 Step 3

This application form along with your deposit must be completed and returned to Leisure Options.

Step 4

When your application is accepted your place will be confirmed by mail.  In the even that we  assess your application and find the holiday you have chosen is not suitable for your needs – i.e. due to the holidays agenda, staffing ratios or care level requirements- Leisure Options will consult with you to arrange an alternative holiday from our program.

Step 5

Upon confirmation of your booking, a kit containing full details of your chosen holiday will be forwarded to you.

 

HOLIDAY CATEGORIES Leisure Options aims to provide holidays for both individuals and groups at a level appropriate to people's needs, interests & abilities. Before choosing a holiday please look at what category possibly best fit then look at the category code on the holiday list.

 Independent – “I” 

Holidays that have a 1:5 staff –to –participant ratio & are designed  for people who are living  either independently in the community or with minimal support & require the minimum  of assistance.

General  “G”

Holidays that have a 1:3 staff-to-participant ratio are designed for people who are active, have good social skills & require only some assistance or prompting with daily living activities. Participants must be able to dine in restaurants and participate in community activities.  

Relaxed Pace “R”

Holidays that have a 1:3 & 1:2 staff-to–participant ratio are designed for people seeking a slow paced holiday with a moderate amount of assistance. People who use a manual wheelchair are welcome on the condition that they can transfer to our regular bus. Accommodation may not be fully wheelchair accessible.

 Extra Assistance  “E”

Holidays that have a 1:2 & 1:1 staff-to-participant  ratio are designed for people who have severe and /or multiple disabilities and/or behavioural issues. They are suitable for people who need a high level of assistance with daily living skills. Some holidays are wheelchair accessible. (please inquire).

 Physical Disability “P”

Holidays that have a 1:2 or 1:1 staff-to-participant ratio are designed for people with a physical disability . These holidays are fully wheelchair accessible.

Physical Disability  - Limited “(P ^)”

Holidays that have a 1:2 or 1:1 staff-to-participant ratio are designed for people with a physical disability  who use a wheelchair for distance or walking frames.  They must be able to manage the steps into a normal bus without a hoist.  This category is not suitable for people who have electric wheelchairs.  .

 Multiple Categories

 Many holidays list two or three categories. eg I,G – This holiday is only for People who are fairly independent and have good social skills.  G,E – This holiday is both for people who are fairly independent and also people requiring extra assistance or may have some behavioural issues.

P,G – People who have a physical disability, but have good social skills.  P,E,R category is for people who have a physical disability, require extra assistance with personal care / behaviour support and require a relaxed pace holiday. G,R This indicates that the holiday is for people who have good social skills but would like a holiday at a relaxed pace.
